In eighth grade, I had learned about Brian through my good friend Jonny who had taken lessons with him before. I wanted to pick up the guitar as a new hobby, but little did I know that Brian would help me turn that hobby into a passion. Brian has an easy going teaching style that is ideal for any beginning guitarist. Unlike many other musical institutions that have a set curriculum for their students, Brian guides the lessons based on the student's musical interests while integrating the useful knowledge that is necessary to any musician. After working with Brian for about 5 years, he has helped me get into music school for guitar performance. Altogether, my experience with Brian has been both enjoyable and incredibly rewarding.

Thanks again for everything. When I started my lessons I didn't even know how to hold a classical style guitar properly. With your help I feel ready to go back to school and really learn how to play in the classical style. I feel that you did a great job of finding what I needed to improve on and gave me the tools to get better. And when I need to find a piece of music to play for an audition you were able to give me a copy of the music that I needed. The time I spent with you in lessons was well worth it!

Brian is an incredible teacher and I couldn't recommend him more! I was a complete beginner and nervous to start playing, but with his help, I was playing a song by week two! He is very patient and great at explaining concepts and teaching technique. He is extremely knowledgeable and his passion for guitar is contagious. He takes the time to get to know goals and musical tastes and caters the lessons accordingly. If you're looking for a great guitar instructor, look no further!

Brian is an incredible teacher. His knowledge and ability to translate that knowledge to his students is excellent. I have appreciated his patience with my learning and my crazy schedule as I continue my guitar playing journey.

I took lessons with Brian throughout my senior year and the summer after. I was a little intimidated to start playing at such an old age but he made the process very fun and enjoyable. Eventually, after learning the basics, I got to choose the songs that I learned. This made it a lot more fun to learn. He was super patient with me throughout the process and also very understanding if I was not getting something or if I fell behind. Brian is a very pleasant and kind teacher! I've had a lot of great conversations with him and have learned a lot about the guitar. I have learned a lot during my lessons, and I plan to take more during my summers at home. I would highly recommend him.

Brian is an amazing guitar teacher, my daughter has learned so much and always looks forward to her lesson. She used to get frustrated and was ready to give up. I am so glad we found Brian as he keeps her positive and interested in learning.

Brian is such a great guitar teacher. I came to him only knowing two chords and now I am playing things I couldn't even imagine then. When I get frustrated Brian helps me by having me practice certain scales and tips. He also makes it very fun by playing songs that gives an example of what you are working on. Brian has made it possible for me to get so far in my dreams.

Brian is an excellent guitar teacher! He works with you to play the music you want to play, helping you not only work on your skills, but to have fun while doing it. I would recommend him to anyone, from the very beginner, to someone who already has experience playing.

Brian Phillips has been giving weekly guitar lessons to my twelve-year old daughter Natalie for about a year. She and I have been very pleased with her progress on her guitar and the quality of teaching that we are getting from Brian. As a former instrumental music student, I have been very impressed with Brian's approach to teaching music theory and notation, so that Natalie not only learns her instrument, but can take the basics to other instruments if she chooses. He has made learning the guitar fun for Natalie, both by the music he chooses for her to practice and by his calm and congenial personality and style. Brian takes the study of music and mastery of the guitar very seriously, but he also knows how to pace the lessons and deal with the learning curve of a new student. I would (and have!) strongly recommend him to new students who want to really learn how to play the guitar.

I've taken guitar lessons with Brian since 2003, while I was in High School. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the musical knowledge that he has had to offer. What I enjoyed most was the unlimited options. Through Brian, I was able to learn whichever style of music I wanted to. From Metal to Classic Rock to Blues to Classical, Brian taught me whatever style I felt like learning. He is a very accomplished musician, but does not show off his musical talent during the lessons that he gives. He focuses mainly on what he is teaching me, and helps me to improve my playing and technique. This method is very effective, and I felt myself improving each time I had a lesson. I've recommended Brian to everyone that I know who wants to learn to play the guitar. Whether one wants to learn to read music, know how to write music, or improvise, Brian is the one to talk to. I will continue lessons with Brian for as long as possible, because I'm sure that he will always have something new to teach me. Not only can he teach students to play what has already been written, but he inspires them to develop their own style. This is a very important aspect of guitar playing, because it can help any guitarist to rise above the rest. Because of Brian's guitar instruction, I felt confident while playing the classical piece, "Recuerdos De Alhambra," in front of an audience of 250 people. I know that without Brian's teaching, I never would have been able to pull something like that off. If you really want to know how to play, perform, and have a great time with music, Brian is the one to go to.

Brian is an exceptional teacher. He has been our children’s guitar teacher for four years. Brain has taught our children not only to play the guitar well, but also to read music, understand it’s theory, and even composition. Brian is a true musician and teacher at heart. He has an incredible ability to understand and motivate his students. Our children look forward every week to their lessons. They love to play and are disciplined about their practicing to make sure they’re ready to play with Brian every week. Brian has enriched our lives with music, and we will be forever grateful.

Brian is the best guitar teacher in the world!!!! He started teaching me when I was eight (I’m eleven right now) and I’ve gotten really far. No other guitar teacher can ever be as nice, understanding, funny and laid-back as Brain. He has a lot of guitar background, and sometimes we talk about more than just music! I look forward to guitar lesson every week. It’s nice to do one-on-one, and I feel comfortable around him. He is willing to always help me and explain things to me. He has taught me more than the concept of playing guitar. He has taught me about music overall and much more. Without him, I never would of known so many things about music. I am confident that any student he teaches will go out into the world and know much more about music and they will feel good about themselves, as have I. He is a true musician and he always will be. I hope to be one myself, and he has helped me become one. I hope that people will have the chance to be taught by Brian, the best guitar teacher in the world. I will go on through life never forgetting Brain. I will always be thankful for the rest of my life. Thanks Brian.

Mr. Brian is a really good teacher. He doesn’t rush you and lets you learn at your own pace. He is really nice and I have learned a lot from him. He also teaches me a little geography too.

Brian Phillips has worked with our daughter for three years (since she was 7 years old). In fact she was Brian’s first student. When I first contacted Brian he informed me that he hadn’t worked with children before but would do some research on teaching children. Less than 24 hours later he called me to inform me that he had spoken with a former class mate who taught children and had purchased a children’s guitar book. Reluctant but encouraged by his desire to venture into un chartered territories we signed up. Obviously since we are still here three years later we are pleased. In fact, our son now sees him as well. Brian has demonstrated the ability to interact with children in a manner which makes them excited to learn and grow as musicians. He is patient, cheerful and both kids are eager to please him. We are continually impressed with both children’s development in reading and playing music. The kids remain excited to learn and come to class. Brian is reliable, encouraging, patient and reasonably priced. Without hesitation we recommend him as a teacher.

Nicholas has been taking guitar from Brian for over a year now. Brians easy going style really seems to encourage my son to continue playing. We don't always come prepared and practiced, but Brian has always welcomed him in without coming down on him. That in itself is such a relief to Nicholas. He looks forward to going each week. Brian also has a great way of talking to him without talking down to him. Brian, you do a great job.

My 14 year old son Phillip has been taking guitar lessons weekly for over a year from Brian and thoroughly enjoys them. He is now able to discuss rock and roll with his father and even shoveled snow in order to get the electric guitar of his dreams. Hopefully, the love of music he is receiving from Brian will continue throughout his whole life.

Brian has taught my 14 year old for 2 years. Brian’s style of teaching has made this a wonderful experience for our first son. He loves playing his guitar. Our second son had started with the piano with a different teacher but has now switched to the guitar as well. Brian is very easy going and both of my kids really enjoy their lessons. Guitar night is a happy night in our household! One of the best things that I appreciate about Brian is his flexibility. As a busy parent, I sometimes have to make quick appointment changes. Brian is always very accommodating. I have and will continue to recommend Brian to any one who has a child that wants to learn how to play a musical instrument in a very positive atmosphere.
